Note: the A/C has the ability to pull a certain amount of HEAT out of the air. Blowing faster does not cause the A/C to remove more heat from the cabin (after a certain speed.) {Butthis is not your problem...}

There are 2 small stepper motors in the HVAC box. One opens the box to fresh outside air, the other one routes the air from defrost to front facing registers. One or both of these motors have "Interesting" problems associated with bringing the car out of a "long durration" of electrical "deadness". So, if the battery went flat as a fart or was disengauged at the switch while the car sat, then have these stepper motors checked.

Don't know about the rest of your issues.

 

Those stepper motors, identical to those on many other cars, will reset their parameters and limits automatically when given the opportunity.

The best way to so this, is to make sure the climate control button is "out", and then turn the key on for about 20 seconds without starting the car. You will also see the airbag, and ABS lights gradually reset and turn off too.

Then press the button, and wait to see if you hear clicking. Clicking is either good or bad.

Clicking, then stopping, and then seeming to work perfectly means that the reset of parameters and limits has worked, and all is well.

If there is a lot of long clicking, or loud clicking that goes for a while, then it still doesn't work well, you may have the very common broken shaft on the Recirc flap, or a broken shaft (less common) on the hi/lo flap.

I have never heard this information before.

 

What do you mean by climate control button "out"? Do you mean the A/C should be off ?

 

There has to be "some" freon in the system before the minimum pressure switch will engage the compressor. This prevents the compressor from running empty/dry when there is no freon and burning out. Was the system vacuumed to at least 25lbs of vacuum and left there for half an hour before it was recharged? Also the compressor does not have to be running for some of the charge of freon in the beginning. it should cut in as soon as there is some in the system.
I am trying to resolve AC issues in my TR right now as well.

PS check for rodents or blockages in the vent system. The compressor has no connection to the volume of air that comes out of the vents
