omigod, i cant beleive this price, Dont get me wrong, im sure its an import, with no log books, and accident damage (it would have to be for this price), but it is by far the lowest advertised price i have seen yet http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/DesktopDefault.aspx?UsedCarID=1123669&TabID=3328&Alias=carpointau
Yes, it's from HK. It may not necessarily have been in accident though. I much prefer the 94 steering wheel to the later airbag wheel. EDIT: I should add that it is ex HK if it is the car in the photos. If it's not I'd be surprised. Usually the ads will include the term 'Australian delivered' for such cars.
There was a purple 97 355, for $160,000 au if i remember correctly...not quite sure, im sure the other fellas would have noticed it, very cheap with bugger all k's on it too.
actually i've noticed a few ads over the last month or so of 355s well sub-$140k... i think i also saw two 348s over $160k ask what you want, get what you're given
I seen that yesterday also. What a bargin 355. Cheapest one ive seen by far. I also looked at some crazy crackers that think that they can get $150-160K for 348 spiders?? Um...righteo,ok,next question!
none of these prices make sense to me anymore. compare 308/328/348/355 prices. they are getting closer and closer, yet we're talking massive differences in age and performance. can someone explain?
Yes, it's because people think they'll end up being like you if they buy a 355..... hence the plummeting values. ad says 94...... hmmm?
well that makes sense, but why the drop in 550s and 360s, then? I've never had one of those. 550s are approaching TR prices.
Maybe because they are flooding the market? Dunno about the 550's,but there are alot of 360's for sale around the place. Here and overseas.
Phil,if my sources are correct, they did make the 355 Berlinetta and GTS in late 1994 and the spider came out in 1995. If thats what you were thinking?
Are TR's actually selling at their advertised prices? The issue overall is simply collectability. If the car is collectable, prices will not be impacted as much and may in fact be on the rise. There are not a lot of people in Australai who will pay over 250K for any car, let alone a secondhand one. Practically speaking the average family man would prefer a late model 120K-150K 911 GT3 which you can use a daily driver and run up 20-30k per year with little or no maintenance, aside from tyres, rather than pay 150K for a 355 which will realistically cost 10K plus a year to run.
Just wondering, why would it realistically cost $10K per year to maintain a 355? Do you mean if you get up to the 30 000km and need the timing belt/major service done?
peepee... how much per year has yours cost to run... all up, including tyres, fuel and everything.....
are F cars really that expensive to run. is this using it as an everyday driver or more realistically once or twice a week?
FWIW, a very crude rule of thumb that I can see from my current and past customer base... is roughly $1/km for V8, a bit less for V6 and a bit more for V12... once again, a very crude average with large variations either way
No neccesariloy as much as 30K, but being used as a daily driver, including the usual stupid things that go wrong on a 10 year old car.
Waz, i use both of mine as weekenders and SFR (albeit we havent seen it out for a while) but the running costs also reflect how the car is driven, Stephen is right a GT3 is a better option for everyday driving, but the thrill of an old f car is when u havent been in it for a week or so, its like a new toy. the Tr is not dear to run, last i looked it has a belt job every 2 years and we have the fluids dropped every year (regardless of kms) and it is treated nicely so the breakage factor is limited. the Dino having just done the classic adelaide had more work done on it and the belt job is every 3 years. but hey who cares its a tax deduction for me. ------------------------------------ quattroporte gets delivered tomorrow arvo
That has to be one of the cheapest 355's I have seen, then I have seen 348 for under $85,000 in great condition. Yes I think Ferraris are becoming more affordable for the "average man"
thanks goober. the gt4 is looking better and better. no tax deduction for me though but it would have to be pre 76 for historic rego and no stamp duty
I realise you're only responding to Phil's post, but your car isn't a daily driver. Would be interested in knowing the cost per km to run though, inclusive of major services.
