After a bit of searching it seems i need to take the right hand front wheel off to access the battery. Is it possible to disconnect it without taking the wheel off? I don't have many tools handy today!

Of course, you will find a rotary switch under the removable cover right hand side of boot. marked with direction off. much easier.

Thanks - good to know! Much easier than going in through the wheelarch!

Apologies, didn't have the manual on me. I wasn't at home.

You can find them here, they are handy its true.
But I also think that questions like yours are one purpose of a good forum when you have an urgent question.

Its very easy to answer and indeed is so much quicker to answer it rather than go on about search buttons, look in your manuals etc etc.
