    So I got back from a trip and my battery was dead on my new-to-me F355. First time opening the engine bay I was surprised to see that my battery was in the engine compartment. Is this normal for a 1995?

    I was hoping to take it out Saturday but I foolishly forgot to put it on a charger or whatever:)

    Yes, that is normal, it should sit fairly next to the turbo. No worries.

    THat's ok. The engineers at Ferrari often have 2ndary access points to help you in such situations like emergency hood & trunk & gas flap releases.

    You'll have to root around & look for a rather large wind-up key. It might help to pull the left side rear wheel well out. Give it a few turns. I wouldn't go more then 4-5. There is a torque spec in the WS manual. drop the car & she should turn over fine.

    Below is a pic from said WS manual stripped of all Italian Fluff housing the innards to help you find the key
