A scanner shows Catalyst Temp Sensor 2 - G132 Short circuit to ground. Is here any way to tell if its the left or right thermosensor aat fault or just replace both. Any help is appreciated.
No. its about the catalyst temp sensors causing a P1448 code. There's one on each CAT. under the rear O2 sensors. There are other posts referencing this code. I'd like to fix it rather than trick the ECU with resistors. The temp sensors (thermosensors) are about $225 ea. Just wondering if replacing them has fixed anyones code and CE light?
Did you check your bypass valve to see if it is working or stuck open/closed. This is what caused my P1448.
So I was sick of various CEL lights, so I replaced both cats with two from a_n_acarpartsuk, total of 250 pounds with shipping, and all four oxygen sensors. Bosch. I also replaced the 3 cat ecus with Technistrada units from Australia. The car is a 99 with a crappy ebay exhaust system, and it now works great. No codes, lively response. The only problem I had was getting a p1448 code, which was traced to wrong cat ecu wiring. The plug with the gray tape on it goes to the ecu that is wired to the thermocouple just aft of the bypass valve. Some cars have a gray plug, I believe. It's such a relief to have decent cats and no CEL's. Total cost was around $1,000.
