I'm considering putting a challenge exhaust on my 355.Do I need to remove the cats or can I keep them on?Also does the exhaust run hot or not?

If you remove the cats, everything will run cooler.

Sure, you can keep your cats in place. The sound will be much better if you take them off, however.

My father put a challenge exhaust on his 98 F355. Their are two types, one muffled and one straight for the different tracks they ran on. His is the slightly muffled and sounds great. No, you do not have to remove the cats. He is about to though and put on test pipes to reduce heat. The exhaust is hot but that was also the case with the stock exhaust. He does not have a challenge grill which I'm sure would help but I am not crazy about the looks of those. I understand the test pipes will reduce the heat.

Another alternative is a Ansa Sport Exhaust, very similar to the factory Challenge, since Ansa makes all the exhaust for Ferrari including the Challenge systems.Fits OEM cats or Hyper-flow,or test pipes.
