Can anybody please criticize this car? Used 1996 Ferrari F355 in Great Neck | New York | Great Neck Car Buyers & Sellers Thanks.
Yeah, it has one major flaw - FerrariChat decals. Other than that, as far as track rats (doubt it is street legal, Ad doesn't specify) go - this seems to be pretty sweet. You could approach the same $$ for a spec prepped M3 and never have nearly the same 'cool quotient' or fun factor.
The car has been posted before on here in the challenge forum I do think I read it has a nyc title which will make it as good as a 95 challenge car.
Steering wheel is on the wrong side The car was listed as "sold" on race-cars.com with an asking price of 75K in 2010. Location was given as :Cresskill, NJ 07626. From the ad: "Yellow F355 Challenge car, new paint and new decals. Run only some club events since engine and gearbox was rebuilt. New brakes, new oil cooer, Saftey shift gate lock-out. 2 exhaust systems, 2 sets of speedline wheels. Laptimer and beacon included. The car was serviced after every event by authorized Ferrari dealer." M
NYC title would imply it can be street legal? Otherwise I don't understand the connection with a 95 Challenge?
The F355 registry has this car as: VIN Serial Number: 104646 VIN 1st 11 Chars: ZFFPR41B000 Year: 1996 Model: GTB Trans Type: 6spd Steering Wheel: LHD Exterior Color: Custom Color (Custom Exterior Color: Flat Black/Red) Interior Color: Black Spider Top Color: N/A City: Miami State: Florida Country: USA Additional Information: Challenge Car / Not street legal So the exterior color was changed/car repainted? Could this represent accident/rebuilt?
I was interested in this car when it was for sale at Universal Autosports. Looks like a really nice car and the new asking price is about $10,000 less than before. I ended up taking a pass because it's a european car and I was not sure I could register it here even with a title.
If it's an unbranded title it should be ok. The problem will come if you attempt to get it inspected in many states, especially if they do emission testing or have rules on plugging in an OBD2 scanner to check for any recent codes as the car (if properly converted) will have had the OBD2 5.2 motronic setup replaced with the OBD1 2.7 setup. I know here it wouldn't be a problem as they don't hook a scanner up, just check for a CEL. In some states or counties within states it would be impossible to legally pass a safety/emissions inspection. They would try to hook up an OBD2 scanner knowing it's a '96 and you'd fail.
I inquired about the car when it was in Universal and came up with the same assessment. Therefore, legal street registration can be very difficult in my state. Anyway, car was titled in FL then NY, IIRC. Lastly, there is no race logbook or race history doc which is important to me.
