i am thinking of bidding on the mixed set on ebay. how hard will it be to find a single front wheel?

how much can i expect powder coating to be?

Its not worth it to powdercoat magnesium in my opinion. Too many things can go wrong, and the upgrade over paint is not worth it, especially on a race car.

this is for a street car.

i was reading up about powdercoating mag wheels. everyone seems to say that its tricky, but one powdercoater said its really no problem. the wheels bake at 400* F when powder coating, and the melting pt of Mg is close to 1200* i think

Of course the problem isn't with potential melting but with just decreasing mechanical properties at 400F. On minimally stressed parts like valve covers, brackets, tubes, etc. it's no worry...but on a lightweight magnesium wheel I'd be careful. It may be just fine, I haven't done any research into it. But I would do alot of searches before taking this path.
