Is it me or does that look like a gm seat buckle that's modified?

That's exactly what I thought! I didn't even think it went to the car until I saw it in a couple of photos for the F355 Challenge car currently for sale on BAT (see attached). Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Ahh ha...thanks Barry! That is pretty high tech stuff...an 80's American auto seat belt buckle on an Italian race car. I wouldn't have figured it out.

The crate is packed with all kinds of goodies. Everything off the car when Ferrari of San Francisco did the conversion...and all of the parts are like new!
Brakes, springs, clutch, AC, multiple coolers, steering wheel, airbags, interior trim, visors, muffler, rear grill, under body pans, original leather seats, etc. What ever came off the car or was converted was saved and put back in the parts crate. Oh yeah...and a Ford seat belt buckle with a rod welded onto it.
Doesn't look like much for a $30k box!

    Hi PJ,

When my car was raced by Peter Sachs, he replaced the black window net, as you found in your crate, with a a blue one to color coordinate with the Miller Motorcars livery...

The seat belt buckle is a good idea as it allows for quick release of the window net to allow swift egress from the car should the door be unable to open after an accident. The female buckle attachment I have has a red push button so a corner worker can easily identify the release mechanism. Once the button is pushed, the upper support rod for the net falls down and the rear end of the support rod slips out of its ring holder and the net falls to the floor.

There are several such driver safety features in a Challenge car like a quick release steering wheel, and interior and exterior battery cut-off and fire suppression handles all of which are placarded.

This is my exterior fire suppression handle...

A corner worker can identify and pull an exterior handle should the driver be unable to pull the interior handle.
