    Hey all,

I'm in the market for a skilled machinist who can restore my tired F355 cylinder heads (leakdown was between 3-11% with one cylinder at 27%).

I'm based in Northern California, but as I've sent out a lot of my parts around the US for refurbishment due to high costs and long lines for bay area machinists (+5 months at my mechanics recommended shop to get to the job). Anyone have any top notch recommendations in the US?

Is this an example of 355 valve guides that does not have issues having an issue?

Check for shops that specialize in ducati race bikes, they have a few tricks that work "most excellent" with the 355 heads. Get the corrected timing from them also. ;)

    Leakdown:
    1 - 6%
    2 - 6.5%
    3 - 10%
    4 - 6%
    5 - 4%
6 - 27% leaks from both intake and exhaust
    7 - 11%
    8 - 3%

No leaks to the block past cylinders.

I'm not 100% sure what the history is with the heads, but they're old and tired. There's a lot of buildup on the lower intake valves and some on the exhaust valves. I haven't checked the valveguides or seals yet, but the valve seats themselves need work. In the middle of pulling them off after testing.

If the guides spec ok cutting the seats and replacing a could of valves is a DIY job.

Would be a shame to condemn the valve guides if the seals are the cause for the carbon buildup and subsequent leakdown :(

He did not condemn the valve guides. He said it was tired and time for a valve job. Come to think of it, I have never seen a Cylinder 6 fail. Only CyL 2 or Cyl 7.
