F355 - Does anyone know how to change the motorizedconvertible top to manual??

Hi - I am in need of some help (aren't we all?)! With the tonneau cover a real PITA to install when the top is down, i only put the top up once and down once per year. The last time i put it up, the motorized top gets stuck in various positions and does not operate smoothly. I know it is pretty expensive to repair it (and from what I've read on F chat), it's a common problem on the Spiders.

Has anybody tried to dis-engage the motor/hydraulics so the top can be manually operated? I've searched this site for the last hour and haven't been able find a post discussing this, but i recall seeing it somewhere. IF this has already been beaten to death, please post the links to where I can find this information. The local dealer (F of Washington, DC) says they have not done this before and says there is now way to dis-engage the motor on this system (it locks in place where it is when dis-engaged).
