So I brought my card to the body shop but I believe it was sitting outside and it rained. The car did receive a full service belt about 500 miles ago. When I picked up the car from the body shop, I started it. It felt kind of rough not the worst I've ever seen. What did strike me the most is that the exhaust sound was not the same and usually at startup it has the deep sound, and as it warms up, I get the high pitch, after a few m minutes of driving around the high pitch sound was not there and would only sound normal when the revs we're going down. I checked the exhaust valve and it seems to be working fine. I also checked for a leak in the hose and that is also ok. I would love to get some insight
The water has gotten into the connectors controlling the vacuum ports under / behind the passenger rear wheel well. You NEED to clean the water out, make sure the system works properly before much more serious damage is done.
How did you check the exhaust valve? I don't see how the exhaust valve would affect the startup sound. Do you have an OEM valve or a Capristo?
By the way, a 355 sitting in the rain not covered up will have a lot of water leaking into the engine bay and end up in the spark plug holes. The result will be misfires. You should look into that.,
Thanks. That eliminates an ECU losing its learned parameters after a loss of battery power. Apart from yelcab's suggestion, if it is rough at all at idle, I would clean the electrical connectors on things like MAF and idle air controller (with proper electrical spray... not WD40) . Water could be affecting anything if the rubber boots on your electrical connections are cracked/torn. I'm having problems understanding this sentence. Could you break it up into smaller, digestible chunks. What was "normal" for your car before the shop visit (at idle, after warmup at various rpms) and what are you getting now? Your use of "the" high pitch suggests either what you think is normal on your car, but could mean what is normal on most F355's. Usually on startup (idle), I wouldn't expect any high pitched sounds from the exhaust on my F355.
