    Hello everyone,

I took the F355 Spider out for a spin today and noticed that the driver side window is not operating anymore, passenger side works just fine.

I am suspecting the window lifting ECU (again) to be the issue. Unfortunately I didn't fix it myself the last time and I am lacking some info where you guys might be able to help. After disassembling the ECU (Nr. 164202) I can tell that there are 4 relays in it that are all brazed to the electric board. However, it's rather difficult to determine which of them is broken (if at all).

So my question: Does anyone know the allocation of relays inside that box? A wiring diagram would be ideal... Or did anyone fix the relays and has some advice for me? The relays are around 5 dollars each here in Europe so quite a saving compared to a new module.

    Any help is much appreciated!!!

    Thanks,
    Ben

Not a permanent solution but if its partway down lift it up while someone pushes the button. Had to do this on a friends car and it worked for a few extra years.

$5 dollars a relay, Ben? Why not change them all?

    Brazed or soldered?

    Thanks guys!

You're right, they are soldered and I will replace them all as a last resort. Not a monetary question, more the willingness to understand the issue.

    Will keep you updated...

I bought a used ECU as intermediate solution and both windows are working again. This gives me some more time to fix the broken ECU.

For those interested I've attached a picture of the circuit board. Doesn't look overly complicated.

    Excellent. Good to know.

Would you be able to post a few of the IC numbers here?

The board looks like it's in good condition. Is there anything obviously burnt out. Any solder joints look dry?

I wonder if that "F129" IC is a custom build?

    Thanks
    Cheers

I don't know if this will help, but looking at the wiring diagram (Left Hand Drive car)...

    16 pins on ECU plug

1 & 3 input related to driver's control switch for passenger window.
2 & 4 input from passengers window control switch
    5 Ignition switch power in
    6 earth
    7 & 8 input related to driver's control switch for driver's window
9 & 10 output to passenger window motor
11 input from driver's door open switch (same switch which controls cabin lights when door open)
12 input from passenger's door open switch
13 & 14 power input from fuses in passenger footwell (I can't identify which fuse is for which window)
    15 & 16 power out to driver's window motor

Can you trace the wiring from the pins to any of the relays?

P.S. I used the standard Euro wiring diagrams for the pin assignments. I can't say for sure that they will correspond to the F355 spider pins. As shown in Ben's photograph, the spider has an extra 5 (?) pin (white) plug, presumably an interface with the roof electronics.

P.S. Actually, looking at online photos, that's an 8 pin plug

On my RHD car, it's under the dash, between the pedal box and the radio. It may be the same on your car. It's mounted vertically on the side of the centre console (vertical section) or perhaps on the pedal box itself.

The ECU has no way of knowing window position unless it's monitoring changes in window motor current when the window hits the top of the window frame .. or hits some other restriction due to alignment/adjustment problems. Try to rule out adjustment issues before looking for a new or used ECU. The problem is not going to be an ECU internal relay issue.

Absolutely, I hope it's an alignment issue and will sort that out first. Also a lot cheaper than an ECU box.
