Has anyone seen this on Ebay. Looks like a nice car. Has an F1 emblem on the rear deck, but a manual transmission inside. I believe it is listed as an F1 as well.

He explains it pretty well. It's an F1 car with a refit to manual. That would mean it's still an F1 car, technically. I'm not sure why there would be any confusion.

    He states he changed it.

Lots more to it than dropping the actuator. Wonder how he handled the TCU / ECU interface & other issues.

1999 Ferrari F1 355. Belt service just completed. New Clutch. Converted to 6 speed manual. Ferrari North America wanted 28k for the F1 pump w/ the actuators. I decided to eliminate the headache convert to 6 speed. Pretty simple swap...same transmission. Car is super clean.

I did some house cleaning on my computer. The description was not there unless I clicked on a tab. Reinstalled some software which solved the problem.

Why would the TCU matter at all? I understand they are interlaced but if the actuator is gone then who cares what it thinks ? I'm sure it had beeping, blinking etc but I would assume all alarms and indicators were disconnected ?

Just my guess open to any further insight.

I guess I am more of a purist. If it is an F1, than that is how I would keep it. They didn't make that many of them. I hope he kept all the original parts.

Hey I hear ya. Its just cool to see the system bypassed if it was really that easy. As long as all parts were kept, no foul if someone wanted to retrofit in the future. Assuming you need the full linkage, clutch and master cyl assy, piping among other things

If you have your heart set on an F1 355, you should wait and not have any trouble finding one (without mods) as many hit the market regularly. High time of year is May!

That being said, I wouldn't let the conversion on this car dissuade a purchase of it was done correctly. Swap out the gear indicator display for a temp gauge, swap two badges from F1355 to F355 and go drive.

Heck, I would do the temp gauge but leave the badge so we have a story every time someone sees the car. At least he removed the paddle assembly .

I think doing this would be kind of a cool project.

    I would.

No criticism of the seller. Under the circumstances he faced, if it was done well, fair enough.

    But I wouldn't buy it.

I would keep the gear indicator and dump the clock instead.
