Found this in a Fall 1996 issue of Forza.

"ANSA first manufactured exhausts for Ferrari in 1967. Today the firm builds 1.3 million units per year, but still hand-welds the headers for the F355."

I didn't know that so hopefully it is an interesting fact for the group.

Would titanium headers be of any advantage for the 355?

    It would be -huge- money.

Properly built 321 would probably last the life of the car. You could step it up to inconel but I don't think that is even necessary.

So, where's the follow-up article about them melting due to poor material spec? ;)

I ask because I believe I can have them done for a reasonable cost compared to, say, a set of Tubi headers.

I will inquire about having a set made. A friend is having a custom set made for his car and it seems like his shop of choice does excellent work (insane welds) for a very reasonable price.

I just wonder if it's even worth it?

Hello Rob, that was true in 1996, but changed in 2011 when ANSA was acquired by the US firm AP Exhausts. AP's Ansa Sport online catalog no longer lists headers for the 355. They only show the rear 6-speed only exhaust silencer (muffler) still in production.

AFAIK, any remaining NOS ANSA OEM 355 headers circulating in the market are the last of the Ferrari/Ansa spare inventory from a bygone era.

Not for a 355. They do custom work for all cars and they only work with titanium. A lot of Porsche guys send their cars there for one-off exhausts.

I just wonder if it's something worth pursuing and if there would be any advantages to titanium headers vs. fabspeeds or tubis.

That's also good to know. I was only referring to how they did it back in the day. :)

+1 titanium isn't necessary, just a higher grade (and thicker), of ss would be fine. Throw a set of Capriati blankets over them and you would be set.
