So my hvac panel recently stopped working. it still lights up at night, but none of the functions work. I checked the fuse in the footwell, and the hidden fuse under the trunk carpet. both were good. any other suggestions? I have no ac, no heat, no blower motor. stop button is not pressed. do the hvac panels go bad? i sure hope not :(

EDIT: This happened before the HID install, so it's not related.

I have heard of several HVAC units just dying for no apparent reason.

I would suggest pulling the unit out of the console and carefully cleaning the electrical contacts with CRC electrical contact cleaner and a soft bronze bristle brush (both male and female ends). I can't recall if the HVAC circuit is on a relay (I'm at work), but I'll check in the owner's/WSM when I get home. IIRC, Daniel or Eric had a contact that repaired the 348 HVAC unit, although I'm not sure about the F355. In addition, I think 285Ferrari (Robbie) may have a replacement unit on-hand for a very reasonable price. There really is not much electronics inside the F355 unit (unlike the digital 348 units), so perhaps the fix will be relatively easy. Best of luck.

Not often, but I have seen them go bad----If you find out it is the panel itself, I have about 10 of them here at the shop, all work perfect. I buy them used from time to time and use the upper portion to refinish, put on a new overlay and keep as stock supply. So the lower electrical box portions just get put in a drawer. I have sold three of them this year...Buying a new one, you have to buy the entire unit, knobs, etc. Around $1400.....

hey robbie, are you going to be at any of the upcoming meets? either annapolis this weekend or baltimore next weekend? if so, could you bring an extra hvac unit so i can just plug it in and try it? that'll be the easiest way to troubleshoot if its the actual panel or something else. If not, maybe I could make a trip out to your place?

Can you be more specific? Did you have same symptoms? We have been trying to sort mine with similar issues.

What were your symptoms? Did you have no functionality from the hvac controls at all? when i turn the temp dial or the vent selection, I don't hear anything happening at all. I don't think just a burnt blower connector would cause that, but i'll check. It really seems like it would be a fuse since all functions stopped, but they look ok.

    Sending PM.

Are you absolutely sure you checked the hidden fuse? It is a green 30 amp fuse, in a holder that is not with the other fuses.

If so, then the blower motor connector is on the drivers side of the air inlet box, down by where you service the AC. It will be a two wire connector, one fat red and one fat tan wire.

After that, check the relay on the passenger side of the box, it will be the forward one, and it is connected with a 8mm hex nut.

Just to update this thread, I fixed the hvac today. jm3 was right, i was checking the wrong fuse. I was checking the fuse that is pictured in this thread (which is the wrong fuse): http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=247023&highlight=hidden+fuse

once i found the correct fuse (#21 in the manual diagram), i saw that it was clearly melted. a new fuse and everything is back in business! :D

Robbie, I hope you got your panel back ok. I assumed that since I didn't hear from you that it was received. I owe you for the favor!
