While I don't need my car to be perfect.... if something is not "just right" on the car... it will start to bug me... and that bug will eventually turn into an obsession until whatever it is that's bothering me is corrected. Over the last few years... I've noticed that the driver and passenger seat bolsters were starting to look a little worse for wear. I know the car is a 20 year old convertible and fading/cracked seats are something you just cant avoid over time.... but while a faded and cracked leather interior might look period correct on an old jaguar or triumph.... it just doesnt look right in a Ferrari... so, it was time to tackle the interior.

At first, I gave the seats/dash/etc a really, really thorough cleaning. While it did improve the appearance and feel of the leather, it didnt really do anything to remove/hide the cracks in the seats....

So, some more research and a quick call to a friend who does detailing leads me to a company that specializes in leather interior repair and restoration. I give them a call, speak to the owner Dominic, and set up an appointment. He came out to the house himself yesterday afternoon... took one look at the seats, looked at me, and said "Gimme an hour....2 tops" and went to work.

He started with a deep clean followed up by sanding down the bolsters and any overtly large cracks or pulls in the seats. Then, he heated the seats with a heat gun.... and used a leather filler to cover all the damaged/worn areas. This was followed by another cleaning and sanding.... and finished up by redying the seats back to their natural leather color.

When he was done, I was completely blown away. I basically have a brand new interior now, for less than the cost of a quick detail job. If anyone needs any leather work done on the interior of any of their cars, I would definately give these guys a call. They are a class act, very honest, and total perfectionists...

Looks great, Peter. The only issue I have with re-dying is the stitching gets covered too.

I don't need it yet, but I'm curious to know who can recover seats with an exact (or close) match to the OEM leather?

I had the sand and dye done on an older M5 and it looked great. Problem is it didn't last long. It looks very good, just be a little easier on it then you would if it was original.

Shoot me a pm. A very good friend of mine in our car club does leather interiors for Ferrari and can source our OEM leather seat covers at a really good price. Not cheap...but cheaper than anywhere else...
