I've seen that on multiple postings of Berlinetta manuals. Car gets posted...few days later price is increased. I can only imagine they're being bombarded with inquiries. A 1997 Red/Black manual with 33500km in Germany was posted last week for 95k euro without photos...I inquired and was awaiting photos. They emailed me back saying photos are up...price was also up by 10k EUR. $130k USD is equivalent. For a standard Rosso/Black nothing special spec Berlinetta. 21k miles. I guess it's cheap if you're comparing to that one on eBay for $180k now. https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/details.html?id=316384710

WOW! $23k in work. I can only compare to mine and from the pictures it looks pretty sad for a 14k mile car. Be interesting to see where it ends up.
I don't know. Looking at BAT results it seems that to get over $80k it pretty much needs to be a spider. Considering that Berlinettas and GTS come up so infrequently, and spiders are common, you would expect the opposite. Image Unavailable, Please Login
With all due respect that is not what I am seeing on the BAT graph. Within the last year the top 5 highest bidding 355s on BAT don't include a spider. 2 GTS, 2 Challenge cars, and 1 Berlinetta round out the top five. If you are considering cars that broke the $80k on BAT...in the past year that only includes 2 spiders. The rest were 3 Challenge, 2 GTS, and 1 Berlinetta
Always strange to see situations like this where a 355 is posted for sale that the seller has done zero to spruce up. Sellers must know the market is highly sensitive to cosmetics and appearance. This car needs a $300 detail job and the interior and engine would look fantastic. ROI would be huge.
That's a GTS at the top there...not a Spider. The only Spiders that break $100k are low mile well documented examples...whereas most Berlinetta's with a stick are asking around $100k starting now. Overseas I'm seeing Berlinetta's jumping quick also...lots of GTS's out there, tons of Spiders...Berlinetta's in good condition are slim pickings. Rare combinations are very few and far inbetween. I'm trying my hardest not to succumb to a Rosso Corsa on Tan or Black Berlinetta.
You are quite correct. My error. Let's put the Challenge cars aside. We all know they are a different animal. So we have 1 B, 2 GTS and 2 Spiders. Considering the abundance of spiders I think that speaks well for them. Good spiders are get rewarded. My point is that despite the Berlinatte bias here, good spiders should not be over looked. If you want a museum piece or a track car a Berlinetta is a good choice as the top will keep the dust out. But if you enjoy touring it's hard to beat a spider whether it's a Ferrari or a Miata. Except the Miata probably has less chassis flex than the 355 Spider Right now I count roughly 600 F355's for sale in the world. Very few are good quality Berlinettas. There's lots of nice spiders out there...but demand for spiders may also be higher. Personally, I won't even consider a GTS. Matter of preference...but there's a lot of people who would rather have the top down in a Ferrari. I'm not a fan of convertibles in general unless it's a big barge (Bentley, Rolls, etc.)
Miata, Z4, Boxster are all stiffer. Z4 is by far the stiffest. But the 355 isn't too bad. I also would never own a GTS. That's why my 308 QV is a GTB. When I bought it back in '85 I though I wanted a GTS. But looking at one close up I didn't like it, top on or off. But trust me, it's hard to find a good spider too. I looked for 3 years before I bought mine. I look at the blue car on BAT now and reading the comments I don't know what those guys are looking at. Even simple things like the center cap on all the wheels are cracked.
S2000 is better than the Miata, Z4, and Boxster. Just gonna throw that out there. I share a track S2000 with a buddy that we just thrash on. Hard to beat imho.
