F355 Market

This is the video you are referring to. Ferrari Museum is confirmed. However date of January 1994 might be incorrect. Some of us think it was May 24th 1994.

Many articles tend point the F355 was launched at the Geneva Auto Show, but footage proves that to be incorrect. Yes, the initial plan was to unveil at Geneva, but last min changes by new head of Ferrari marketing, Antonio Ghini were made. They were afraid a static auto show would make people think it was merely a 348 facelift.

They decided to present it more privately to journalists at the Ferrari Museum then tested the cars on Fiorano the same day. There is footage of Niki Lauda and other drivers giving journalists rides and perhaps a few journalists getting some seat time. The idea was to insure the public didn’t think this wasn’t merely a 348 facelift by showing off the F355’s handling and power firsthand.

I strongly believe the correct date is around May, 1994. A friend recently spent a day with Ermanno Bonfiglioli (one of the people behind the making of the F355) and he said the car was launched around May '94.

 

The Ferrari special magazine celebrating 50 years of Ferrari say Spring of 1994. That would go with May.

 

Looks like this one will bring all the money. CF seats, low miles, hard top, totally checks all the boxes.

I’ve always wondered why the airboxes looked so rough on mine (and perhaps others). They were rough from the get-go.

Judging by the way the article was freshly written, I would say an F355 launch date in late May 1994 would be correct. It’s the only reason I purchased this magazine. Perhaps find clues that would pinpoint a date. I was getting a bit frustrated as the Youtube vid lists Jan 1994 in the description.
