Just got an F355 and did not see this before.... I warm the car up....and drive for about 15 minutes before i see the oil pressure on the gauge. The needle fluctates a few times between zero and mid point during the first 15 minutes or so....after about 15 minutes the pressure looks normal... Another concern i have is water temperature. It stays at zero for about 10 to 15 minutes and then it goes to about mid point. From there, it appears to be fine... Would appreciate any advice.... Thanks Mark
The water temp sounds normal but ask the guy who is checking your oil pressure problem to have a look at it too. Do not drive the car until the oil pressure problem is checked out. For starters read the owners manual. It is the top secret book located in the leather pouch that came with the car. Make certain you are looking at the correct gauge. The book will also give you information as to what the values on the various gauges should be. I would bet money you have a gauge problem but if you don't you have a VERY serious engine problem. Check it now, don't drive the car.
Will try to look at the gauge or oil pressure sending unit (assuming that is the source of the signal).... Not sure if this is relevant, but I doubt it is the engine because the car has just been through the engine out belt replacement and compression/leak down was recently peformed. The leak down came back within 5 percent in all cylinders. Oil was changed recently etc.....
Mark, When I start the car the oil pressure goes to about 85 and holds there for 6-7 minutes then drops to about 65-70. After 15 minutes of driving it is at 70 at running speed and around 12-20 at idle. The water temps are around 180 after 8 minutes of idle and range between 165-190 at all driving speeds. Hope that helps for a baseline comparison. Andy
Mine does the same. Starts out at about 80-85 psi and gets to 70 psi within 5 minutes. Idles at about 20 psi. Water temp does not exceed 180. sounds like a bad oil pressure sensor?
