My first time tracking my F355...just learning my way around the 2.7 mile road course. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soOE4dE0x7o[/ame] Sorry the video of the track itself appears washed out - it was a cloudless day in the desert and there is almost zero contrast between the track and runoff areas. Many thanks to the folks at CVR and their members for a great day! If only it wasn't 3.5 hours away... Plugzit was also there with the GFRT 358 race car and his beautiful adrenaline junkie wife. What a kick in the pants ... That car is amazing!!! Congratulations Bruce and Vince. There was a gentleman there in a Nero 458 that simply owned the track. Just an amazing ferocious beast on the track - reeling in every race prepped car with ease. At one point a Corvette tangled with him at the entry to the main straight and spun out for his troubles. Good times!
...and you were thinking of selling your 355C wheels? I think a couple more hits of the trackday crack pipe will fix that.
If only there was a track closer than 3.5 hours... I can't afford a trailer right now and will never convince my wife to drive the SUV support vehicle to one of these godforsaken locations. Do they ever use El Toro for open track days? Isn't that where Top Gear USA is filmed?
El Toro? Funny you should ask... This sounds good and 3 of my other friends will show up with me. Why not come along for this fun day. Cheap too with food! http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=315731
Standin' on the pit wall and lissnin' to Sandy hustle that 355 down the front straight was truly a religious experience. Chuckwalla is an incredibly fun track if only because the runoff areas are huge and just sandy dirt, very level, so a bit of overenthusiasm isn't costly. I recommend it to anybody in the area when the opportunity comes, if only once, ya gotta experience the feeling of being on the track without a million other idiots (notice I include myself in that group). No more than 25 cars there, so near unlimited track time. The 358 performed flawlessly, I just need to be young and immortal again!
The day was free to a "select number" of "prospective members". It truly is a great track and as facilities are built, it'll be a fine racing country club.
