I found a roll cage for F355 berlinetta But I don't understand how it looks like? Accessories & Tools for Ferrari 355 - Superformance http://www.superformance.co.uk/parts/62975300-500_.jpg I need a full roll cage like on challenge versions. Thanks
Even if the best Ferrari 355C cage with door bar... it is bolted. The bolted cage does nothing for chassis flex. If you really need and intend to use the car as a "caged car", I would consider just having a local race shop fabricate one for you that will not only have modern safety benefits but chassis stiffening benefits. I would also put or fabricate chassis stiffener plates for the front shock towers so you don't rip out that metal. For example everyone uses HANS or or other HNR. Harness bar height and positions greatly effects HANS function and there are specific mounting recommendations. A custom rollcage will address that. When I had the 348C challenge cage I also could never find out what the cage was made from or how. Many sanctioning bodies require modern construction and materials which most often is specific diameter of chro-mo or DOM tubing based on car weight with a specific limit on attachment points for your race class as well as specific door bar treatments. Today no 348 or 355 OEM cage is likely to meet those requirements unless "perhaps" a vintage association or someone like CCR which is the American place for current and retired challenge cars to race as originally raced in their respective series.
With all due respect, that is simply not true. A cage's ability to protect and to strengthen the chassis is often dependent on how it is integrated with the chassis, but a cage with small footplates that is welded to the floor is not really any "better" than the same cage that is bolted in using appropriate sized backing plates because the welds/bolts are not the failure points in such an arrangement. It is possible to design a bolt-in cage system that is as strong as a weld-in cage. I've seen tons of weld-in cages that I would trust way less than a properly installed bolt-in cage. The method of attachment is not nearly as important as the method of integration.
Oh, and as a response to the OP, that is what is known as a half cage in proper English/race car parlance. 'Muricans call those roll bars, but real race engineers car "sway bars" roll bars (as in Anti-roll bars), so the part you've linked to is known as a rollover bar or half cage.
Thanks guys maybe you advise good companies with full roll cage for f355( buy and install) cause it's hard to find who will custom made for me here in France
It is absolutely true in this case. 355c cages leave little to be desired. Post just a picture of one and I will start poking holes in it if you wish.
Actually in that op picture it looks like a log more than the rollover hoop. Looks like the whole challenge cage.
It is hard for me to believe that the home of the most important race in the world would not have race shops all over. Google race schools, FIA or local race tracks and start asking questions. I am sure there is a race shop near you.
What they are showing on their website is all the pieces for the cage wrapped up in plastic for shipping, that's not how it looks when it's unpacked and installed. M
I have 1 for sale if interested. it was on my 355 gts. Located in UK London. Image Unavailable, Please Login
