Is it complicated to exchange the spark plugs on a F355 MY97 (M5.2)? It seems that I need to remove the red valve covers and especially the one right hand is not easy to reach.

It really doesn't get much easier on a Ferrari. The spark plugs are under the narrow cover with "Ferrari" embossed on it. It will require an allen wrench to remove. The spark plugs require a 5/8" socket.

Don't drop anything down the holes.

should you use only a new gasket when reinstalling them or gasket plus a sealer..when you reinstall them tighten in a X pattern starting from the inside out

I wouldn't worry too much about the gasket. It's only purpose is to keep rain out of the spark plug holes. You can likely use the same one again.

Went out to the garage after I started this thread. It does look quite easy, so I'll give it a try, as my engine seems not to run properly on one cylinder. Don't know which. Might be just a spark plug if I am lucky...

If you have an ohmeter, check the resistance of the wires. It's an easy job while you're in there. They have built-in resistors and should test in the neighborhood of 5K ohms. If you have infinity on one, that could also be your problem.

Check the coils also. Pull the plug wires off and the ECU wire, then measure around 13.7K between the top and bottom plug wire posts on each side. Then measure about 0.5 ohms between the ECU center conductor and each of the ECU edge conductors.

Current recommendation from Ferrari is to use the NGK PMR8B.

Agree, that's what Ferrari put in my '97 before I bought it, runs fine.
