Can anyone tell me what the snap located at the outside bottom center of the convertible top on an F355 Spider is used for? It is directly above the engine compartment lid in the center of the convertible top where it attaches to the body of the car (see picture attached). Does it attach to some type of hold down strap? I'm not familiar with what this is used for and I didn't get any type of tie down strap when I purchased the car.

Actually, I have the same question. The middle snap does not match up to any of the boot cover clasps. I probably should get up and read the manual but would enjoy using someone else's brain if possible.

When at speed the center of the leather hood cover can flap about. An easy way to cure this is to attach another press stud fastener to the middle of the hood and on the leather cover. I am thinking of doing this my self becourse of the flapping of the middle section, so i will be using that very stud point i think.

My boot cover does not have a snap in the middle of the back where the snap on the convertible top is located and I don't want to change it from OEM. Any other ideas on what this snap is and how it is used?

What goes there is a peice of Velcro (the "grabby" hook part) and it has the snap on it. You snap it on, and then push the top cover into it...to hold it in place. I have the peice, but it does not work well at all. I ended up removing it, and storing it away. Pretty worthless...

That's so cool to know, thanks.

Now that you mention it, it seems as though I remember reading (years ago) a car review article that talked about that little piece of velcro. Foggy. Maybe not.

Can someone post a picture of the Velcro piece with the snap for the F355 Spider convertible boot cover?
