What happens when the top is down and you have the leather boot over it?

The top is down in the photo. The leather boot will cover them, but they should be loud enough to be heard through the boot.

Come to think of it, there is a lot of room back there. I wonder why they didn't make the glovebox bigger?

I can probably make a larger custom glove box from one headrest to another...what do you guys think?

Ultimately, I would like to remove the glove box and have a custom rosso corsa fiberglass insert that goes all the way across and also down the center to the center console. Then have one regular speaker on each side and a subwoofer in the center. A custom boot could be made with openings for the speakers. Anyway, that's beyond my budget right now, so this is just the start of a proof of concept.

About your project. Do you think you will get quality sound(not drowned out) once the seatbacks are up again-it?(back in seating position.

    LOL!

Actually, that is Kelly Pantaleoni. She used to live in the neighborhood. She ran for Miss California a couple years ago. Now she is a model in LA and is in a few movies.

I'm not sure. That is why I am prototyping it. I have a total of $11 in the project.

I am using some speakers that I had lying around and the car already has an 800 watt amp in it driving the door speakers and, eventually, the subwoofer that I am going to put in once I come up with the dollars and decide where to put it.

Kewel! Post results. When I bought my car the p/o must have beena big competitive car stereo buff. I have a 1000watt amp in the trunk with a built in mirror system. He took all the speakers and you can see the aftermarket reminance of wiring and the like. So, I am especially interested to see what you come up with. Thanks man!

On a 348 the only reasonable sub woofer location I could come up with was the passenger kick panel at the console, but I had to remove the control modules for the stupid motorized seat belts. I just removed the original panel, and made a new one out of thin plywood. Not sure what's in that location on a 355, but it's a good location for sound quality. You can't fit a 12" subwoofer in there, but if you're looking for that, then you would have to get the air lift suspension kit too.

I don't know if subs are a standard depth or not. Could you please specify the factory specs on your sub. please?

What I ended up with was a Kicker CVR 8. (See below). What I first tried was a Pyle 8 inch slim subwoofer (see below) that I slid behind the passenger seat....but the sound was lousy. So I cut that up and took just the amplifier from that unit, wired it to the Kicker ( a 4 ohm model) and it sounds soooo much better. It's depth is about 4 inches

These are the boxes that were added behind my seats that I have removed. This is a subwoofer. If it could mr enclosed in a more estheticly pleasing enclosure I might consider keeping them as a user removable addition

System sounds great with the new head unit, amp and door speakers and tweeters

Are you in the LA area? (Location lists LAX?) If so I'd like to see what that looks like. Are you going to SuperCar Sunday Ferrari Day on June 2nd?

How do you get the cover for your top over the speakers when its down? Something custom there as well?

    Just wanted to show mine.
Single 8" Alpine sub in custom enclosure made by me. ;)
I added 6.5" speakers in the doors and tweets in the dash along with a POLK amp in trunk.

I'm in LA at the moment headed to Vegas 24th-29ish hopefully not as long. I'll try to make it to super car Sunday.

It somehow doesn't get in the way of the seats or Top. Just not visible when covered.

It looks like I am trying to make a combination of KidAces' and Extreme's solutions, but in Rosso Corsa fiberglass.

KidAces, how do the speakers sound when the boot is over them? Is it muffled or does the sound pass through pretty well?
