    If I remove the passenger seat and disconnect the seat position sensor, then move the car around, will the seat need to be re initialized with an SD1?

    Move the car around or the seat?

    Are you planning on disassembling the seat or changing broken components on the seat (including the seat position sensor)? Why are you removing the seat?

    I guess you could move the seat normally to the fully aft or fully position (whatever requires you to remove the seat) and then, with the seat removed, take measurements of where the seat is in relation to the track and take a measurement of the resistance of the potentiometer. Then, during reinstallation, try to set up the seat as it was before. You may need to apply power directly to the motor to do this.

    I'm about to do my major service and I want to remove the seat so that I could get at the computer connector easier than just sliding seat forward. I will not be moving the seat once it is out. I will be driving the car to position it on my 2 post maxx jaxx hoist.

    I would not recommend reconnecting the battery with the seat removed. I don't know for sure, but there may be an air bag sensor that would cause the airbag light light failure warning to come on and that may require an SD1 to reset.

    There is no airbag seat sensor on the F355. The F430 was the first Ferrari (V8) to have a seat sensor.

    Shouldn't be a problem at all. Do you mean the engine ECU connector? Can't you use the OBD2 connector under the dash?

    Yes, the ECU connectors that has to be disconnected and fed through the firewall on the 5.2 motronic when dropping the engine out for the major.

    I just finished my major this spring. If the seat is full forward and tipped forward there is more than enough room for ECU / wire loom access.

    I also used a Max Jack hoist to do my major. It worked well.

    Thanks. BTW, did you leave your top up or did you have it down during the major? Just wondering if it's easier when top is down.

    I put the top down.

    While I did not need to do it, you can step in behind the seats and lean over to get to the firewall and all the connections.

    The deck lid being removed of course.

    Technically, you don't need to remove the seat for a major, unless your car has a seat that does not fold forward (broken) like I just had and I knew enough to pull the seat before I did the engine out.
