    Hi.

Does anyone know the thread diameter and pitch of the Thermocouple inlets on the cats of a 5.2 F355? I've replaced my cats with straight pipes and want to simply "cap off" the thermocouple inlets; leaving the CAT thermocouples to read nothing more than ambient air temps.

    I'm guessing 10mm x 1.0mm just looking at it.

    Thanks,

    Nick

I don't have an answer for you but I was going to suggest you also remove the metal pipes that connect the one way valves for air injection into the headers. The valves are bloody expensive and I'd rather have mine removed from the car so there's no deterioration from endless heat, vibration and corrosion. They should "live" longer that way and then I can put them back on if the time comes for an inspection or to sell the car. of course you would also have to seal the other ends of these injection pipes.

So.... for this you would need a couple of really large threaded caps (and seal the other end of injection pipes. I really don't know if such large cap nuts are available in what appears to be quite a fine thread pitch.

Anyway, don't mean to hijack your thread but it would be nice to know the air injection size and pitch if someone has this too!

Just checked the thermocouple on my 348 and it's a 10mm. The pitch looks like it's a 1.25 (?) but don't quote me on that.

I just removed the cats from my 355 yesterday and can confirm they are 10mm x 1.0mm at the thermocouple.

    Thanks!!

I guess the next question is:

Does anyone know where to look for 10mm x 1.0mm threaded metal caps?? I've done some searching online and have yet to come up with anything. I'm sure it's because I'm not searching for the right terms (not knowing exactly what to call these caps).

    Thanks again,

    Nick

why not just clip the wire off the end of the thermocouple...you've a ready-made cap.

5.2 Motronic will throw a solid slow-down at that point (I think) rather than store a silent code like the 2.7's. Letting the TC's on the 5.2 stay connected, read ambient air temps, should eliminate the slow-down light.
