And ferrari and pinninfarina could not ever be wrong ? Example , when the 348 was initially introduced , complaints were made about stability , and ferrari basically added a spacer , a wheel with a wider off set , but instead of a spacer the extra material was part of the wheel casting . End result was was added offset , done by ferrari . So ferrari added offset = ok . Owner added offset = not ok . DUH !!!!!
So denouncing the addition of spacers or changing offset, and using the argument " ferrari knew what they were doing , dont mess with it " is just plain wrong .They recognized a mistake , and corrected it. Its up to each owner to decide if they want to further correct the mistake , and feel free to do so without being shamed and told " ferrari could not make a mistake ,leave it "
Stand at the door of a 348 or 355 and look forward and down at the front wheels and the offset is so weird it looks like they cant even be the correct wheels for the car . The car looks like its going to fall over. No thanks , that was the first thing i fixed on my car , second was the awful sound system , omg two crappy sony door speskers , lol

    I checked today:

I have Bridgestone Expedia S-01 tires on my car.

My brother's car has Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

    All factory recommended sizes.

Will see the mechanic tomorrow morning.

Dave, that is my 73 Pantera that needs a paint job. That is how I know so much about the different shades of Ferrari red. One of these days.......

Thanks Robb. I think the car looks a little more aggressive with the slightly wider tires. The car came with Michelin Pilot Sport tires.

So Michelin vs Bridgestone vs Pirelli on our cars?

    Which do you prefer? Thanks.

The M pilot super sports that came as OEM are fantastic. I'm good for another season or two as mine were replaced in 2012. When they go, I put the same on. No need to fix what's not broken :)

Super sports aren't oem, they weren't introduced until 10 years afer the 355 stopped production.

Tire technology evolves quickly, so what was best 5 years ago is outdated by the time they need replacement. The super sports are still very good tires, but there are a few better out there now and in 2017 when yours are due for replacement, they may not even still be made.

What are your intended uses Robb? Just dry street driving?

    Pete,

I will likely be driving only on the streets most of the time with an occasional DE.

Living in AZ, I can get away with tires needing less "all weather" capabilities with more dry heat helping performance and ability to stick.

My car originally came with Pirelli's in '95.

Robb, I think they are all good tires. I don't think you will notice much difference driving on the street, but I could be wrong. On the track might be a different situation. Check out Tire Rack. They usually do a tire comparison with the different brands and tire models. They look at a lot of different aspects of a tires performance(handling, wear, noise, just to name a few).

I'd say Dunlop direzza z2 star spec or Bridgestone re11a for max performance, continental extreme dw for comfort and low noise and super sports for something in the middle. All will work fine for everything, it's just a matter of which qualities you value most. Dry lap times should be fairly close between them, maybe a 1.5 second spread. On the road if you're pushing any of them to where they break free, you're going way too fast imo. I went with the contis and am very happy, but I tend to drive mine in the rain on occasion and they're the best there (and the rain is the only time I feel I'd need max grip from any of these tires on the street). For you in AZ, I'd probably go with the super sports or the re11a's.

I've raced against the re11's using direzzas and the re11's were a little better in the dry but the direzzas killed the re11's in the wet. Wet probably not a concern for you and this was at racing speed, both would be fine on the street.
