    F-Chat, hello.

Question regarding the transmission for my '97 F355 Berlinetta.

A friend at a local shop drove the car and mentioned that the shifting could be smoother. Initially, we thought it might be the bushing at the shifter. Upon further investigation, we determined that the coupler at the transmission was the culprit.

Doesn't seem like a big job or an expensive part, but would love to know if anyone on here has experience with a similar repair (or a good resource to purchase the coupler).

    Thank you,
    Brian

ebay has plenty of people parting out Ferraris.

Get it used and save some money.

#29 or #46 (same part number, 139555) are common wear items. Not difficult to replace but requires a press.

    Nothing you can buy "used".

    Thank you Tim.

Saw you run a restoration shop and have worked on some great projects.

Any idea as to where to purchase this part, and for what cost?

Ricambi or GT Car Parts. Give them a call.

If you have a lathe it would be easy to make them from Delrin (the stock part is rubber & steel).

At $126 it may be well worth making some.

Why would you need the whole part #39? The bushing is the part that wears out & can be replaced.

Thank you Race4s. Shipped the 355 to my father in NC to enjoy while the weather improves here in NYC. Hoping to bring it up to this area sometime this summer.

Tim, thank you for the advice, and I will ask my shop about this. Would be great to make the improvement while keeping the cost low. Will keep you guys posted!
