f355 transmission swap?

    do the f355 95-99 have tha same tranny? just bought a f355 w a broken input shaft. shaft costs about 4 k. used tranny the same. gonna go the full tranny route. any advice? this is my first fcar.

    How do you know the used transmission is in good working order?

    i guess i don't, but its warrantied and my trannys good so gonna try shaft first. worst case i have an extra gearbox sittin around.

    The parts books on Ricambi America are a great source of info in cases like this. If something has the same part number through all the years, it's generally an indicator that it remains unchanged.

    I haven't done any research, but from memory the only difference is that the '95s have a slightly taller 6th gear. 96-99' were one tooth lower in 6th than the '95s. You should be able to swap a trans from one year to another, but I can't speak to the rest of the internals being identical. The cases will fit from one year to the next though in the chassis.
