    I'm looking to buy a Ferrari 355, I found a semi-local 1999 convertible , 14k, f1, has all the service records
Can someone tell me what this is worth, my research shows way too wide a range
Also, Is there enough room for someone 6'3 to be comfortable in this car?
Thanks for your help, hope I posted in the right area

    Hi there,

You may consider filling out your profile and telling us your name and location so that you may acquaint yourself with the Ferrari community.

I certainly would not recommend buying a Ferrari without looking at it and driving it if you do not have experience with the particular model in question.

I firmly believe that the 348/355 cars have more driving comfort room in them than any other 2-seat Ferraris. For me, there is ample headroom and legroom. At 6', I have a long torso, which causes my head to hit the ceiling in most Ferraris; but not in the 348/355. Leg room is not a problem for me, but I imagine it could be for taller folks with long legs. At 6'3", you better check it out. However, you may not care because the thrill of driving a Ferrari may be more important to you than being comfortable. For example, I find there to be very little room and comfort in the 512 TR, but I throw that concern out the window because, after all, I drive a 512 TR and that's all that matters. The back ache is well worth it!

If the 1999 355F1 Spider you are looking at has been serviced (that is, if the engine has come out within the last 2-3 years), and if it is in outstanding condition (the best condition possible for an 8-9 year-old car), then I'd say it's worth about $90-100K. There is no such thing as a "perfect" Ferrari despite the fact that every single Ferrari in the history of the universe has been advertised as perfect.

Of course, if the car has not been serviced within the last 2-3 years, and if there is any indication that it was sort of neglected service-wise (records don't mean anything unless they are analyzed), shave about $7,000 off the asking price. Also, if there is any re-paint work besides a bumper, shave off thousands of dollars depending on the extent of the re-paint and the quality.

There are all kinds of things to watch out for on a 355 during a pre-purchase inspection, but I don't think we are quite ready to discuss that.

    Nice.

Now that I think of it maybe the Spider has even more headroom.

Is it uncommon that a bumper and the hood would be redone? The explanation I was given was for rock chips. Any words of caution? Thx, Alex
