I have no idea what they are saying but it's still fun to watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vhg2SzmCdi4&feature=player_embedded#!
You learn something new everyday... I didn't know that the 355's Topfart was 295 km/t. That's pretty impressive. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Have you seen some of the crazy Chinese mufflers made for Ferraris these days? Topfart of 300 km/t is just around the corner. Topfart has traditionally been easier to achieve in the 'tuner-import' class of cars, based on the mufflers we see in my little town. Obligatory
I was going to post something to lower the tone of the conversation, but I couldn't come up with anything.
Cool video, wish I knew what they were saying...they did a top quality job making the F355 look and sound awesome (as we know it is). Would be a nice retro/comparo segment for Top Gear to do. Any Danes (or drunk Norwegians) care to give us the synopsis of the comments please?
Here's a comment from one of the You-Tubers: I'd purchase an F355 GTS with a manual gearbox NOT F1, instead of 458, because, well, it's much cheaper and better looking and it comes with a proper gearbox. And I've always wanted one ever since they first came out, it was my "dream car". XD I would add it also sounds much better ;-)
Done the way that video did it (that is well done sound quality):: The F355 sounds better than the 458.
Danish does have a lot of German in it as well as some Dutch. You can almost make out what they are saying - if you're drunk enough on Heinekens...
F355 looks better and sounds better (IMO) ...I dont really care how fast either gets around a track. Id take the F355 (though if I had 458 money I guess i could have both)
Since I cannot afford a 458, it doesn't really matter. But my car will do one thing that so far the 458 cannot match: I can take the roof off. And then the sound is just ... epic.
Here's a translation I got from another member here, AR4me: I watched that video some time ago, but watched it again to listen to the actual comments. They are not comparing the two at all. It is like two separate and independent car reviews concatenated - not sure why it is in one video, and why it is called 355 vs. 458... They love both cars. The 355 is praised as the Ferrari that saved them from the 80s and 90s, and as the first Ferrari you can drive daily like people drive their 911. Add to that one of the most beautiful and best sounding Ferrari's and you have a winner. At the introduction he says when he was 10 he fell in love for the first time, it was not with a girl, but with a 355 (someone down the street had one and they would wait for hours to hear and see it go by). The 458 is praised as THE BEST SPORTSCAR in terms of pure driving experience, a marvel in engineering. It may not be the prettiest (he thinks the Lambo is better looking), but nothing beats it in terms of raw driving experience. He says, "but who complains when you can go from 0-200 kmph in 10 sec" , perfect weight distribution, and every little detail has a purpose. At the end he says that he just spent a day in a 458, and it has probably been the best day of his life.
I'll tell you what they were saying. "The 458 is the hottest car in the world right now: it's arguably the sexiest of all, among the fastest, and among the most technologically advanced sports cars around. "But they just don't make cars like the F355 anymore. It's beauty is unrivaled. It's timeless: even 15 years later it evokes awe-inspiring emotion. The fun factor is phenomenal. Sure, the 458 is faster -- but the 458 is so ridiculously fast, one wonders why a car even needs to be that fast at that point. The 458 lacks driver input -- it does everything so effortlessly and in such an automated way, one begins to ponder the question, "What's really the point?" "At the end of the day, there's nothing like working the left foot and feeling and hearing the legendary gated shifter. And that 355 engine sound -- let's not even go there. No V8 Ferrari even comes close." [my interpretation ] [Seriously -- a relative has a 458, and I actually don't like driving it. It is so absurdly fast that it's impossible to not drive recklessly on 30-40 MPH roads. The acceleration is just ridiculous -- can't avoid driving like a maniac. And it's so loud. All I do is step on it and pull the paddles back. But it really stops being fun after like 45 seconds. I wouldn't prefer it over my 355 if you gave one to me.]
