So are we talking about the two named 911 as i have mentioned above or not?
And the "within 7 hour" thing is very simple. You said two things yesterday (on the same day). First you said that your Porsche would be "blown away", and then you said "the 355 stands no chance against any of them. I was wondering which is it to be?
If your 355 is being blown away by the above named 911s there something wrong with your 355 IMO. I have never ever had that problem with the above named 911s.
Ad no need to get all defensive like, i am talking thats all.

Are you a teenager playing here on this forum??

I said: "...I used to "always think" that if I ever encounter the gorgeous 355 on the road and did a short race, that I might be blown away..."

Further explanations: "Always Think", "Always had that thought", "Always beleived that would happen", "Always imagined that would be the case", " I thought that the 355 would be faster than the Turbos", "while driving the Turbos, and before having a 355 and experiencing its power (or lack thereof), I thought it would have blown the Turbos away in case of an encounter".

Even further expalanations: After buying the 355 and experiencing its capabitities: " I no longer think that it could have "blown away the Turbos", "I do not believe that my initial thought was true", "I found out that my initial thought was wrong, and it CANNOT and IS NOT faster than the Turbos as I originally thought".

I see you do not want to fill your profile, so I have nothing more to tell you.

Ok ok man relax:) Its just that as well as owning a 360 and a 355, last year i also owned a 993 Turbo that was quicker than my 355 yes but only by a small margin straight line wise. So i was trying to make sense of what I THOUGHT you were saying about the 1997 & 98 911s with 100 bhp less thats all. I have clearly hit a sore spot:D It may clearly have been a misunderstanding from my point of view;)
And forget about the profile thing, some know who i am. I know more about your car than you do....i realy do:D

Hahaha Zero! Had you not been overseas, I would have bought a 930 and looked for you in your 355 on the road just for laughs! (assuming you do have one).

Getting a bit back on track, in my opinion the 355 and 360 both work better < pausing to check buckles and zippers on flame suit > with the F1. The 360 especially, but I think that is because you expect it to be faster. Before priming your flame throwers hear me out:

I have owned both manual and F1 tranny 355s. The manual in the 355 is great, and the car is amply quick. I have driven a few 6-speed 360s and didn't like them. Both the 355 and the 360 have good power if you are up in the rev range. You can do this with a manual, but it is not as intuitive. The F1 makes it more natural to keep the revs up. I think this makes the cars feel faster. You don't expect a 355 to be as fast as a modern supercar, so it doesn't seem like such a big thing. You expect a 360 to seem faster, and instead the manual was a real let down to me where the F1 is a screamer.

Something like a 911 Turbo with a good bit of torque is going to feel faster on the road. Ignoring lap times or stats, it's that press you back in the seat sensation that is lacking in regular driving of a manual 355 (and 360). But when I nail the next gear in the F1 at 8 grand, it's pretty awesome.

I am not saying either car is better with the other gearbox, I am just saying the 355 and 360 feel faster with the F1 box, and the lack of torque can make them feel a bit lackluster with a manual driven in an everyday fashion.

The Gallardo is a torque monster compared to the 355. But it also handles speed so well that it doesn't give you a big sensation of speed. It's very undramatic.

Not flaming at all, it's just that a lot of people feel the opposite is true. But that's ok, it's all just our opinions. Every person who drives these cars, will "feel" something different in the experiance. That's why I always tell someone who is interested in a car, that they have to drive it themselves, because it's different for everyone. I enjoy the 355 with a stick, because it is a very "analog" experiance. That's a draw for me. As for the comparison to the speed of a G, well that's a big leap. But if all I wanted was 1/4 mile fun, I'd be running a big block Chevelle or something.

with the 355 you must keep the revs above 6500 in all gears and then you will feel that the car has good power. We are so used to shifting at 6000rpm that the car never is in the power band. Do this on a tight road and see if you think the car is not quick.

+1 ......... I had a 930 and when it was bone stock, there is no way it would beat my 355 ..................... though my 930 did not stay in 'stock form' very long, it was extensively modded and it was aproaching 400 RWHP with big cams, monster goth headers/muffler, big intercooler, extra injectors and upgraded turbo ...... :D

My 'stock' 993 turbo would definately beat my 355 though .....

Dean is a good man .......... but you already knew that ...... ;) ................. maybe Deans 930 had freeflow muffler, one bar boost spring or adjustable boost and did not factor that in ...? .............. because as we know, a 930 with even just an adjustable boost and everything else stock will do pretty damn well from what I recall .................... :)

    .............. I'm busted ...... ................... I conceed this is true ......... :( ................................... ;)

Ozzy, I can sprint faster than your 355!

By the way, Zero is a good man too!

Anyway, what I am saying is based on driving the Turbos for so many years, and they were stock. The 87' 930 was actually my favorite because of its power. The torque you feel when that boost opens up at 3K rpm is unreal, and knowing how you get stuck to your seat and comparing that to the 355 is what I am talking about. I am talking about 0-60 and not a race that starts in Chicago and ends at Ozzy's place in CA. My 355 is in awsome shape with leakdown at 2% and compression results as follows:

    Cyl:

    1- 191
    2- 189
    3- 194
    4- 185
    5- 192
    6- 195
    7- 194
    8- 189

Even with the above, I feel that it does not stand a chance with what the 930 performs at 0-60. I looked for a Utube video of a 355 and 930 drag but did not find any. This is not an intent to bring down the 355 in any way. Hec, I have a 355 and do not have the Turbos aymore. I just am comparing the initial "jump" and I don't think the 355 can win that part. If I am wrong, trust me, I will not be upset that what I own now is faster than what I owned before.

......... but what I know is that Chris' 348 will wipe out Ozzy's 355 hands down!

    Love ya Oz!!
