    Hi all,
I have a wiper switch on my f355 which activates the wipers for a single pulse but will not activate any of the automatic or continuous settings. Any advice on a rebuild?

Hi, Paul... Just a few thoughts...

I'm not sure of the switch's construction, but it does seem odd that one position works and the other two positions have failed. Do the detents feel normal?

This is probably not a power/fuse fault as the wiper wouldn't work at all.

Does the washer work with the wipers off? Looking at the wiring diagram, the washer appears to be semi-independent of the wiper computer (and a different electrical plug on the steering column is involved for the wiper). There are 3 plugs on the steering column for wiper/washer. Check that all the plugs are connected (I'm not sure how accessible they are). Has anyone done any work on the car between the last time you used the switch and now?

There is a larger electrical plug between the steering column plugs and the computer, but if one speed works, it would appear to be still connected. My computer is located under the right hand forward luggage compartment latch, but I'll let the USA folks confirm thiss... my car is Right Hand Drive, so may be in a different location. The Ferrari part number is 153095. Some second hand prices don't seem to be too expensive.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Thanks, Qavion. The single pulse is the washer activation with a pull. It works. The stalk twist functions are the ones not working. Frankly, I've had the car for 2 years and never drove in the rain until I got caught in a shower this week.

Ah, now I'm with you. I will have to have a rethink. I didn't realise the wiper moved with the pull. The wiring diagram doesn't seem to show this... and I only check my wipers once a year at inspection time  The switch may indeed be faulty. Can you feel the switch detents? I had the rubber grip on my light switch come adrift and it was spinning without turning the switch.

Oddly, the wiring diagram shows 5 detents on the wiper switch (6 detents including off), which makes diagnosis more difficult. Anyway, check the security of all the plugs under the steering column. Because the computer appears to be involved in the single pulse function, the computer may be ok.
