Just mounted a set of Challenge wheels on my F355. Great wheels, lighter than the set of HRE's that I have. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
FYI: as I wrote previously, >We discovered last week that when using Speedline Challenge wheels on a Ferrari 355 (or 348 for that matter), the stock bolts aren't long enough for the wheel -- there is only a 1/4" holding the bolt on, instead of the 1/2" for the stock street wheels (the Challenge wheels have a thicker hub). Actual 355 Challenge cars use a stud/nut solution. If you don't believe me, go measure the Challenge wheel hub thickness against the stock wheel (drop your stock lug bolt through the hole and measure how much stickes out). So, I needed some new, longer bolts. Thanks to Bob Zino, who suggested checking with H&R, and Jamie Troutman and Steve Magnusson, who provided a link to ECS tuning, which is an H&R dealer, I think this problem is solved. http://www.ecstuning.com/HR/appguides/app_search.cgi?make=Ferrari&qt=studbolt&model=F355&submit=Search%21&thread=Choose+Thread http://www.ecstuning.com/HR/support/how_to_mesure.html I ordered a set of new H&R lug bolts (HR141560FER, 60mm, M14x1.5 ) from ECS, for $4.95 apiece (plus shipping), in lieu of the ~$70 or so that Ferrari charges PER BOLT. I think an FChat sponsor, Hill Engineering the UK also offers bolts that fit, but may be more expensive. I've used the H&R bolts on the Challenge wheels for several track events, and they've worked great. They even look good too. And the amount saved is just insane. So, for all of you who have mounted 355 Challenge wheels on your street car using stock bolts, be very careful. The stock bolts appear to work fine, and may in fact not prove to be a problem at all, but that's small consolation if you find yourself being passed by your own wheel one day.... vty, --Dennis .
I have H&R rear 15mm spacers and ordered longer bolts for the front and longer bolts for the rear to compensate for the spacers. I got the bolts from England. The spacers on the rear bring the wheel out to where it should be and really fills up the wheelwells without any rubbing.
I think it made a big difference. I have test pipes on now and am going to put Hyper-Flow cats on next week. The intake made a big difference in low end and throttle response. The car pulls harder. The same K&N cone filters used on this intake are the ones that the Audi Lemans car uses that I saw up at Elkhart Lake last year.
IMO the best choice for an aftermarket rim on a F355. Nice job. Are yours silver - Speedline Corse normally send them out in white. P.S. If you lower the suspension and find the (hugely expensive) Challenge Carbon/Kevlar rear wing it will look fabulous - exactly like the challenge race car.
It looks great dont put a wing on it it will look overdone. I seen that intake before it looks great. Post some videos when you get the new cats.
Typically, I would agree with your comment BUT IMO the 355 challenge cars look awesome. Shame that the replacement challenge wing (the real thing with Ferrari p/n) with engine cover strut sells for ~$5000.
I think I will skip the wing. The intake is a GruppeM intake and madu in Germany. I got it through Scuderia in England. Also added the Eruopean front clear turn signals.
I have F40 rotors and calipers in the front. The rear end has the Challenge air scoop that fits between the muffler and the rear end.
