I have an '04 360 with 3100 miles on it and just had the 3 year/3000 mile major service done about 2 1/2 months ago. I was driving it yesterday and the check engine light came on, the little light on the left that is shaped like an engine. I pulled over and turned the car off, waited a few minutes and turned it back on. The check ok lite up and the car started with no problem, however, the check engine light came back on. The car seems to be running just fine, so i'm not sure what's going on. Before I take it to the dealer and get soaked, anyone have any ideas what i can try to get the light off??

Try taking the gas cap off and screwing it back on. This is no joke. Make sure it is snug.

Lose gas cap probable. You will have to go through so many start cycles before the light will clear, maybe a dozen, or more.

I had an 03 360 and my CEL came on right after I bought it. I bought an OBDII scanner and found that it was the Mass Air Flow Sensor. While I waited for the scanner to get here I changed the membrane in my gas cap, constantly checked to make sure I did not overfill the oil reservoir and made sure all my caps were tight. Nothing worked until I replaced one of my MAFS. A sign of this problem is a fluctuating idle (2-500 RPM) usually when your car has been driven hard. These sensors are sensitive to dirt from the air intake (should not happen with clean filters) or if you have just put in fresh K & N pre oiled filters. Make sure that you either blow out excess oil or dab a clean rag on it to get rid of the excess oil. I mentioned earlier that people overfill their reservoir because they don't know how to check their oil and overfill it. Lastly if you run your engine hard before it has warmed up to operating temp you could also get oil in places you don't want.
This is my 3 cents, get an OBDII that can reset your trouble codes as well.

Check it with a scanner. You can go to autozone, Pep boys ect. and they will scan for free. Then you will know for sure.

My first thought was O2 sensor, but at 3100 miles this is unlikely.
