Not sure what all that was about, or who he is, but just noticed the email address in the ad...

So is there any real value to this car, or has been hacked beyond that point?

The car is what it is, a standard F40, wrecked hard and burned, then painstakingly resurrected in the style of a competition car.

This post and this post show the car the day of the wreck. The thread they belong to has some good information about the car, from people who have seen it upclose. You just have to pick through the vitriol and arguing.

Some folks here love it, some folks hate it. Some say it it borders on a religious experience to hear it run.

IMO, if you like the car, and want the car, read the Roland Linder thread, see what people say about the car itself, go see the car for yourself, have it PPI'd and if you think it's worth what is being asked for it, buy it.

I love that the AD states that it has a CLEAN Carfax!!! If that accident does not qualify as a reportable item on Carfax, what does?

Carfax has very spotty information. If it was not turned in to a reporting insurance company then it won't be on there. No accident report by the police either.

Roland is selling the car himself, read the ad. At that price, it isn't a bad deal. Not a perfect car, but very, very fast.

Never bet the house on a Carfax report. I severely wrecked a '99 M3 (not totalled) and it never showed up on Carfax...even with $16,000 damage on a $30,000 car AND claimed/fixed under insurance.

No, it says that it has "a carfax" and a "clean title", not a 'clean carfax"

Well as long as the carfax lists COMPLETE IMMOLATION then it should be legit.

Forgive my ignorance, but what makes this car any more "notorious" than any other Ferrari brought back from the grave with little more than a chassis stamp and an engine block? Is there a problem with the quality of work or just merely that the owners have been less than forthright about its past?
