The Classiche certification of the RED 90969 was carried out by Ferrari dealer Zagami Automotive, Melbourne. I thought only Maranello could carry them out?
Who did the alleged certification of the BLUE 90969 have yet to be established. But we have been assured from both sides that all facts will be brought forward..

The RED one have earlier been offered for sale by Scuderia Graziani in Sydney, and might still be?

the red books are issued by The Classiche Department at the factory in Italy, but the inspection and photographs happen at your local factory appointed Ferrari service centre or dealership

    I was wondering too??

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/147717605/

PS. Maybe the photo was only used for illustrative purposes, and not meant to portray "90969"?

Regarding Classiche certifications carried out by dealers, how do Maranello know that the
person who carries them out really is qualified? Can the same person authenticate a
156 Sharknose and an Enzo? I can see a huge scope for more situations emerging, as with 90969...

Just noticed this thread is titled "F40 90969"... maybe it would be more accurate to call it "F40s 90969"

there are appointed Ferrari inspectors that take the pictures and do the inspection as per the criteria required by the Classiche dept at the factory - all these photos and details are then sent to the Classiche department at the factory, they inspect the information supplied, compare factory records and what an original car should be - then grant or refuse the red book, after you have paid the £7-10k

no room for error, discrepancy or dishonesty in that process

V interesting thread. Was anyone able to explain why the vin on the red car does not match the vin in the classiche file for (supposedly) that same car? Font on the number 4 looks different among many other bits

it has been shown to be one of the same, the red car for sale in NSW and the Classiche red book match - with the correct chassis stamp - the first part of the chassis is machine stamped and very straight and uniform, the last five digits are hand stamped in the correct factory style.

The confusion is earlier in the thread, comes from referring to a red F40 being offered for sale in Japan in 2012, with the dodgy stamped chassis plate showing the same number, the chassis plate has all the numbers out of line, not just the last five digits.

No genuine 156 Sharknose exists anymore, so that is irrelevant...........

I thought as you were getting annoyed with the editing timing out, you corrected yourself, or made reference that it had to be a "G" because the lower part of the letter being higher, therefore it had to be a "G" or am I misinterpreting this?

    your quote:
"And yes, of course, if that were a "C" rather than a "G" the lower part of that letter wouldn't come up as high as on the photo? Happy to be corrected, of course."

    On Scuderia Grazini website:
    1987 Ferrari F40 - Scuderia Graziani

    they state:
"The F40 came to a Sydney Ferrarista about 4 years ago."
"The car has been fully resprayed by a renown Sydney Paint shop, specializing in Exotic car restoration."

so the car has been fully repainted since Classiche in 2014, it could be that the satin black of the front section where the chassis tag is, was freshened at the same time and the painter was a little over generous with the paint, resulting in the recessed letters/numbers of the chassis plate clogging up a little?

hopefully clarity will follow from our Australian friends when the sun come up.

let me save you 47 minutes 11 seconds of your life, with regards to this thread and 90969 there is nothing of value at all in this long video, they discuss a few things we have already discovered and discussed on this thread, but they add absolutely nothing new to the information we already have. They even take a few unwarranted tangents, because James (DK Eng) hasn't read this thread and the information he is given is thin to say the least.

I wonder if Sam has been double checking his own F40, that came out of Japan as well and was the white liberty walk example at one time with full Japan spec copy LM body.

The F40 would have been simply imported for the Cannonball race on a " Carnet de Passage en Douane"
    https://www.infrastructure.gov.au/vehicles/imports/import_options/carnet.aspx,
and the remains exported after the crash to satisfy the Carnet requirements.

    100%

If the car stayed, full import duty and taxes would have had to been paid on the declared value. We're talking 100s of thousands of dollars.

That is a UK dvla extract on licence # G752ECV, another F40, #84625, that also happens to now be in Australia since January 2018. 84625 was originally an Italian registered car imported in to UK in 2013.

Dunno, but it was imported into Australia in January 2018 and is/was also associated with the Sydney dealer Graziani

That company have been involved in selling more than one F40 over the years. You cannot read anything into that.
