I was talking to a dealer today and was told to stay away from adjustable suspension on F40 because it breaks down very often. Anyone has experience with the system? Is it really that bad? By the way, I tried a couple F40 and the clutch is not as bad as I thought or described here. It feels very similar to a Diablo SV.

well that answer could be moot as the adjustable suspension was europe only. If you can ad to your profile with where you are some owners would be happy to help

I think Rick can add here, but from what I understand, the system is actually very simple and is not prone to breaking. Does the dealer have a car w/o the system in it?

If I found one with it, I would jump on it. Problem is that it's a rare thing here.

I am no specialist but i have not heard of anything bad about the adj suspension. it's actually something positivee IMO because you can clear speedbumps.

You should give a call to some the well known UK specialists (Verdi or DK engineering) as they have seen much more of these cars.

We had one for resale that had been converted to the adjustable suspension. IMHO, I thought that it was not as stable as the regular US suspension. Too mushy. But it was nice to be able to jack the car up to get it on the lift.

Thanks for the replies so far. Love to read more replies from owners who use the system.

    Hi Yimm,
I'm glad you found the clutch action acceptable. How did you like the brakes?
I have the adjustable suspension on my car. I have the owners manual and tester for it also. I don't think I have had any problems with it yet. I do have a small leak at a fitting at one of the shocks right now though. The car can be driven almost anywhere without fear of bottoming out on a driveway or steep incline or speed bump. Most F40 guys that I know won't take their car unless they know the road. I don't worry about it. A bunch of us went to Beverly Hills and ended up in a parking garage. On the way out was a steep incline. I just pushed the button on the dash and away we went. It does tend to "hunt" between the low and middle height at about 45 mph. The car takes on a whole new personality.
I don't think it is the way to go for all out performance but it does make it easy to drive in the city .

RIck, thanks for the reply. It is good to hear the system acutally works o.k. The brake is marginal IMO and if I do get the car, I will definitely upgrade the brake system. Is there anything else I need to pay attention in my search process? By the way, does the adjut suspension hurt handling a lot or it is insignificant??
