While I am, unfortunately, not an F40 owner, I can across an article in an old FORZA magazine regarding F40 air box modification. According to the article, there are several 3.5 mm holes in the bottom of each airbox. Presumably, these holes allow drainage of accumulated water and/or oil. The author (Tony Palladino) stated that he was aware of several instances of debris (e.g., small gravel, rubber, road debris, etc.) being injected into the airbox, with ensuing damage downstream to the compressor turbine blades. He then recommended that the airboxes be "modified". He did not expressly state what this modification should entail, but I would presume it would involve the fitting of small, relatively fine-mesh screens over these drainage holes. While I am sure that you (lucky) F40 owners have extremely competent mechanics, I thought that I would at least pass this information on.

    All the best,

    Scott
