Can someone tell me where the cat ECU's are located on the F40.

My right slow down light started flashing today but no change in power and both cats appear to be about the same temp (how close can you hold your hand technique). When I had a major service done a couple of weeks ago after getting the car, FOA found the cat ECU's were unplugged and we plugged them back in. They were suspect to begin with.

Right bank light flashes then all is good for 20 minutes then flashes 20 minutes, etc.

I want to swap modules to confirm.

    Thanks,

    Drew

Drew: during the course of this, is the performance any different?

    Hi Joe,

    Great car you got me.

Absolutely no change in performance. Car goes like hell. FOA thought this might be an issue.

Occasionally these cars take a little time to get sorted but obviously we must be cautious.

    Regards,

    #38 is the cat ecu
#7 is (near) the thermocouple plugged into the cat to measure temp
#34 is the plug from thermocouple to cat ecu

    should be an easy swap!

I think I tracked the location of the ECU last night. There is a lot of plumbing in there but I don't think it will be that hard.

Chris, as a note the F40 ECU is the same part as used on the 2.7 Monotronic 348; we're cousions.

I've got spare cat ecus, plus I'm not using my 2 on my car. You're welcome to them all for testing, etc.

Yes a little sorting and you'll be set. I had the same issue with an F40 in the mid-90s (#86640 as I recall). I that case it simply required new ECU units and then it was fine for 2,500 miles of driving thereafter.
