I'm told that F40s will be eligible for certification through the factory's Classiche program. Will be interesting to see how many owners decide to participate. I'll probably submit mine.

Andrew, you've probably seen the discussion in the vintage section about the program. I may seek certification for a car I am selling (not the F40) in the belief that prospective buyers may find in the program some assurance as to the car's provenance and correctness. Why certify a car one intends to keep? I'd personally liken it to accumulating the press releases, magazine reviews, luggage, books, tools, build sheets, etc etc with respect to one's car - it's another part of the collection. Also, one gets the factory's take on the correctness of one's car, which could be good or very, very bad, depending on the result.

Simon, I am in the process of making my first request for certification, which has not yet been submitted, so I can't really tell you much except that the application is roughly 30 pages long - much of it requiring photographs of the car. There is also a significant application fee. I am applying through my local dealer, who are handling preparation of the application.

Would you consider shipping your car back to get a suspension nut marking re-aligned? ;)
