I want to buy a second set of 18 inch F40 rims and tyres to use on Ferrari club track days. I have been offered a new set of 'OZ Racing' rims supposedly for an F40 LM. The front rims are 12.5 inches wide, and the rears are 15 inches wide. There is no offset stamp on the rims. Does anyone know if F40LM rims will fit a street F40?

The standard rims are 8X17 inch at the front, and 13X17 inch at the rear.

Are there any other size rims that owners are using for track days?

One F40 LM owner wrote me that he has 17 inch rims. Did some F40 LM variants come with 18 inch rims?

    That is wicked wide.

From the wheel manufactuers that i have talked with they have all recomended (in 18", same for 17") the 18x8 or 18x8.5 front and 18 x13 rear.
If you would like some custom made lightweight (15lbs each) forged wheels that are perfectly suited for your application contact me. NEEZ wheels are great for your application. Cheers

What wheel and tyre combinations are other F40 owners using for track days?

    Allen,
I have 18x10.5 fronts with a 265/35 front tire on my car. I cant see how you would get much bigger than a 275 up there. 18x13 in rear with 335/30's

Some people are recommending that 8.5 inch wide front rims
are the maximum. Do your 10.5 inch fronts rub on the guards, the brake air ducts, or restrict the amount of turning lock that you can use?

I would just run the wheel/tyre package you have for the sort of club track days we have here.

Can't get good 17" tyres.... Need to upgrade to 18"s, but yes, I'd stay with std width and offset.

    Hoosiers?

The only disadvantage with running P-Zero's in our track days is tyre wear. Lap times are irrelevant, though it is nice to have sticky tyres for "feel" and driving enjoyment.

Not sure about a 17" Hoosier either..

But I see they now do these for 360CS and 430 users etc....

I have a set of 17 inch Hoosier slicks in the original OEM size fitted to OEM wheels.
It's probably the best solution for track day use

I was told that the standard tyres will be ruined in one track day given the F40's performance. I suppose that they will getter hotter than street tyres are designed for.

Yeah, I know. My post was directed at 360C.

I haven't seen any Hoosier 17" in Australia, but it's an option to consider if they're available. But you still have the risk of damaging your original wheels in the gravel etc.

i did many track days on my standard tyres. I got 5000km out of both sets of rears. in 10000km, the fronts were worn.

oh..and whoever told you that...shoot him!

Utter rubbish as Aircon pointed out. Sure you COULD destroy a set if you put your mind to it; but the worst you will see is some feathering on the tread blocks in my experience.

Didn't you see the tyres on the Enzo after Allan drove it for 2 laps at PI.....

Even your F50 has permanently disfigured it's LF tyre, after the day at Calder Park, which isn't hard on tyres at all.

An F40 on road tyres at Sandown or PI or even Winton will eat them if driven to the grip threshold.

And QLR or Eastern Creek will eat a set of tyres too.

well MINE didn't...but then, I only did a 70 at winton, 1.50 at PI and 63 at calder. remember an F40 is much lighter than an F50 or Enzo. Less power too.

Never saw the Enzo's tyres and Alan IS a pro rather than a weekend warrior.

My tyres showed feathering, still perfectly road legal and more than satisfactory for the work we do here. Compared to the expense of another set of wheels/tyres it isn't worth the trouble in retrospect.

It may be an extravagance, but I suggest revisiting this comment after a nice dry day at either PI or Winton.
