Today was my 1st track day with the F40

1st the brakes REALLY Suk!!!!!! WTF is up with that, I mean the brakes on my 308 are better than this, I think the brakes on my Chevy Tahoe are better :)

I took some boost out, 2 turns negative but its still pumping near 22 #. She really is a rocket & she handles well

I have to change the seats too & Michelin Pilot tires SUK Too !!!!!!!!

Fooking tire blew out on me after 2 sessions, luckily no damage to the car, Not sure what happened w the tire but luckily it blew out when I was going slow bcus I had NO brakes left

    Sounds like fun(?).

Any idea what the problem is with the brakes? Are you going to replace the whole brake system, or maybe just try new brake pads?

    About the brakes....
Maybe you should go for 18" rims/tires and get the Brembo kit with the big rotors.

Is it zsnnf who has LM brakes on his F40?
I think he said they work perfectly.

Yup, been there. I cant begin to imagine why Ferrari would deliver such a finely sorted package as the F40 with brakes like these.
Boost, I have the proto type boost control being finished now to go in John Moore's 40. I have been working on this with a layed off aerospace engnr., and designed it taylored to just the F40. John has agreed to do the testing on the boost control much the same as he did the testing on the brake fix. John is an incredibly consistant and very fast driver. If it passes his testing I have (5) other 40's that want it installed this winter.
Seats, yup. Test fit nearly every seat Sparco makes (as well as other brands) and never found anything that fit well. All are too wide unless you find a non-adjustable molded bucket that is comfortable.
Tires, same! Lets see what Roland thinks about the alignment on the car coming back from Canada. I tried new settings on that one that I am hopeing are a nice blend between track and street. When I finished with that car we only had slicks for the rear and Pirelli street tires up front. Not really a good test. Hoosiers for the track!

I was hoping to wait till until April to do the F50 brakes but I guess I'll have to give Kinesis a call to order some 18" wheels soon & get the F50 brakes soon & a nice racing seat

    William.....

I would never say I told you so.................

email me and I will get you a direct line to Kinesis.

As for seats, I agree with Dave Helms (I do that alot). I have never seen any non-F40 specific seat that actually fit well.

A couple of choices.... I think the best choice is to either modify your existing seats or buy a pair of used F40 US version seats and modify those.

Ok, let me say this a different way....

The US seats are actually superior than the euro seats, I know, I have both sets. The problem with the US sets however is, as you mentioned, no cutouts for shoulder belts. My US seats have been cut for shoulders belt slots, the area around the cutout was surrounded in red leather to match the leather stripe on the side bolsters. They cutout looks factory and the belts fit great.

Now, your other choice, (I have done this as well) order euro seats from Ferrari, YES, they are available, YES they are expensive, YES they will tell you it takes a year to get them (I got them in three weeks) but they have the cutouts for the belts, YES they are even tougher to get in and out of...

The problem for me with the euro seats is that the bottom cushion height is slightly higher than a US seat (they do use the same seats rails) so head room is a big problem, and I am only 5' 11". A HANS device is IMPOSSIBLE for me to wear with euro seats.

As soon as I get the courage, the US seats will go back in, I do love the looks of the euro seats and they are fine till I put a helmut on...

The brakes have to go, the factory shocks have to go, you need new rims, new seats, a wing, tires..... Welcome to F40 ownership!

email me, lets talk, i will help with this...
