Starting bid seems a bit optomistic.... But I hope he gets it!

A sincere thanks for the heads up but I tend to shop in the realm of reality! Some folks are too attached to their vehicles.......while selling them.

This car sold at auction in Monterey 2 years ago for $325,000. Would be surprised if it has appreciated that much.

I don't recognize that seatbelt buckle up on the "A" pillar, is that an add on or was that from the factory?

I can't believe they would put those horrible automatic seat belts in that car, I know that was law in 89/90 for US cars, but please at least leave them unclipped! Anyone ever get caught in one them bloody things!

Sadly that appears a sham auction to my eye.......

Market is still $325 - $375K on these and the first bid shoots 100K past that and does not meet reserve???? WTF???

Also, a "collector" car indeed, with that low mileage does it even RUN????

a 90 is also less desirable to later cars, IMO. Push it back in the garage for another 20 years......poor car.

Market seems to be strengthening for good cars. I think the range is now $350k to $400k depending on the year, miles, and condition. Perhaps a pristine low low mileage car (2k to 3k miles) might bring over $400k.

In the end it comes down to supply and demand. I think there are 210 or so U.S. spec F40s and usually not more than a couple for sale at a time. 288 GTOs are even worse. Seems like there are none of those for sale and their prices keep creeping up.

The bidder is "Quiet". He is famous for bidding on high line cars that do not meet the reserve. He is like a shell bidder. He never reaches the reserve.
