F40 half shafts/axle shafts on 348....what´s the deal ????

This is a timely question since I just bought a 348 AND happen to have a spare set of Mondial halfshafts sitting on the shelf.

Patiently awaiting a technical response...

 

There are many common parts between 348 and F40, quite simply as their production dates crossed paths.

I always have this in the back of my mind when reading how the F40 is considered with such high esteem (it is awesome in my view), against the 348 considered at the opposite end of the scale by certain motoring journalists (and even LdM himself!).

 

Looking at Ricambi's website the 348's axel shaft doesn't cross-reference to any other car. Nor does the Mondial t. However, here's the cross-reference list for P/N 111867:

In other words, how are the "F40" half-shafts better than the standard ones for the 348?

Okay, so the F40 and Mondial 3.2 half-shafts look the same, but not so the 348. Did the 348 LM use a different trans and/or rear subframe?
