Hope it gets out and about. Would make a nice addition to the SFR runs (and the next NT run, if they're willing to clock up some miles).

Heard today the the new Shell optimax Extreme 100RON fuel is eating all the race car fuel tanks...

so any F40's owners should be doubly aware NOT to use it.

Hope that helps the new owner...

Safest fuel to use is ELF race fuel (Turbo Max or Atmo Rally probably good choice). But BP ultimate seems to be the next best and most practical..

95 RON Minimum. Leaded, of course, is only ok in non cat cars.

Either spec can run 95+unleaded though.

what, meaning 91 RON....?? Surely not dealer advice????

All you have to do is READ THE OWNERS MANUAL.............

gees, I know of one car in the UK (at the time) that burnt it's valves out in under 2000km when it was only a year old because of that.....

95 RON unleaded in all F40's is ok. Higher octane is good but no ethanol.

The Elf Turbo Max fuel has really high oxygen content..... an F40 would pick up huge gains I'm sure.....

I have NFI who bought the "Burago" F40, I only know that it has just been sold and it's off to Sadelaide.

I also had a really good look at the Miura SV that happened to be in the showroom when I was there. I was quite surprised at the condition it is in, given it looks so "fresh" in the photo's that I have seen. There is all sorts of nastiness going on under the paint, the interior is rooted and a headlight is cracked. Major money pit to get this one up to scratch.

you betcha. that's all there was, back then i think...oh wait...ummm....i forget now!

mind you, i'd imagine the ignition would have retarded and the boost diminish via ecu to avoid damage....wouldn't it?

i remember considering mixing unleaded with avgas...that was meant to give a pretty good octane rating, from memory.

Yeah, but the Miura has a very honest type of nastiness about it!
It would hav ebeen very easy to spens small $$ covering up those paint blemishes, giving the impression of a perfect paint job.....

Those marks are not terminal cancer, just "age" spots......

Yes, the whole alcantara needs replacing..... but would look sensational again after, and Miura are about the least technical challenge to strip/asemble interior wise, after a 246.

It's a great car, just needs to be bought at the right price... but it ISNT a basket case rusty Euro car.

F40 has a pair of crude inefficient knock sensors only located in the middle. later cars have 4 or 6 spread around the block, so F40 don't detect knock as well as they could. (like 550 and 360 for eg).

Disclaimer: I am probably the fussiest, pickiest OTT perfectionist that you will ever meet anywhere. I have never met anyone who even comes close to me in this respect.

In light of this, it is entirely possible that some folks would be delighted with this SV's condition. Everytime I have seen this car mentioned, it is described as being in exceptional condition- concour even. IMHO, it isn't even close. Assuming that there are no mechanical issues (no idea on this), IMHO the car is a good honest "driver" SV. Nothing wrong with that at all. Drive it and enjoy, fixing it up as you go along.
I suppose Phil is right in calling it "honest ugliness". All the faults are pretty obvious; but they are most certainly NOT going to be cheap to fix. Take the paint off her and there are definitely problems lurking underneath. The front clip is a bit of a worry. There is a crack in the metal between the 2 bonnet vents. The "tap tap" test makes me think it isn't all metal in that front clip.
You can't buy a Miura front clip I am told. Replacements are hand made in Italy at quite impressive cost. The windscreen has had a leak, perhaps it still does. That "may" cause serious hidden problems if it wasn't attended to at the time.

Yup, at the right price this would be a nice car to have. IMO an absolutely pristine concour genuine late production SV is a $450-500k car these days.
Just a question of the "right" purchase price.
