Sheesh, this one took forever and a year. I bought a modified F40, which somebody did a nice job on in modifying it towards a LM, however it was missing some critical parts like the characteristic cooling holes in the front hood and had some wrong decals etc. So I bought one of the modification kits and went to work.

So here a quick list of all things I changed front to back:

    - new front hood with new lamps, paint and decal
    - new wheels
    - added windows on either side
    - added antenna
    - added fuel ports
    - replaced the engine hood
    - added second diagonal bar in engine bay
    - redid most decals
    - added middle support beam for rear wing
    - took out the rear grill
    - added center column to the rear grill
    - added rear safety light
    - took out the standard exhaust and replaced the three tubes
    - added the metal plate around the exhaust

Though part was trying to match the existing paint so I took a sample to a paint shop where they did a color analysis with the PC and mixed a quart. Not a perfect match, but fairly close.

    You did well! Again!

    Based on Bburago?

(and on a side note, I took delivery of a 312 P "Prova" and a 512 Testa Rossa Le Mans 1958 today. All in 1:43 of course).

Thanks guys. After I posted the pics I noticed a mistake: There is the old decal tank on the right side, a black round dot. Had to quickly remove that.

That is based on the bBurago. You can tell by the rear deck hinges

Robustelli did some incredible conversion kits for these and had 2 versions that I know of. The Art Sport and the IMSA F40 LM versions. But I have never seen this version before...

    Good job...looks good

Thanks. As I said, this is really a combination of two version of kits. I just tried to get as many details right as possible.

Very nicely done Andreas - I know I bugged you enough times about this model. It was well worth the wait. Looks awesome (looks so good that I thought it was that Pocher-based 1/8 F40 from scaleautoworks!)

Did you add camber to the rear wheels or am I imagining things?

    Thanks for the kind words.

No you're right, there is camber. But not really deliberately: The new wheels didn't exactly fit so I had to glue them in. This was the best way possible.

you might be too late for this...

but we had our tires recast in resin and filled to look like slicks

Then we stenciled all the race writing on them such direction " -> " ect..

It wouldn't be too late, I can take the tires off the wheels.

But: Did this car really drive on slicks? I thought it also drove on some regular streets kinda like a rally car with grooved tires? Does anybody know?

Can you take a picture with something beside the model to provide a frame of reference? I would love to see how big this model is.

    It looks great!
