Classic Coach is finishing up restoration work on the F40 LM and got to make some initial runs on the dyno today. It put down just under 600 at the wheels with the turbo restrictors on it. We think there's another 100hp with them out but we'll start of "slow" for now.

On the dyno the car was spinning the wheels in fourth b/c the gearing is so low so we had to run it in 5th. Tops out now at only 160. Plan is to run it at the historic race at the end of the month at Limerock so the short gearing will be optimal there. Can't wait to drive it!

And that is without any real airflow over the intercoolers. Probably will make more power at speed

Nice work Mike! Can you have the guy that build the motor give us some idea of the specs Like displacement, engine management, cams, fuel, exhaust, injectors, and turbos? Im not sure when you did this so im guessing it was temperature corrected. Was he using stock exhaust manifolds? I can see from the video that it has open exhaust. Take out those restrictors!!! What type of gas were you running?

Jas, everything is going well! Hope you and the fam the same

Can't really comment on specifics b/c I dont know...cams, engine management, displacement, turbos ect.. are all stock. Of course we could put in the same modern parts that we put on the roadcar but obviously the goal here is to keep the car period correct. The car is setup to run 2bar from the stock ecu. We may put in a motec down the line because that would be a simple bolt in that would help with how to turbos come in. On the road car the turbos are super progressive but in the LM they are like a light switch. Hence why it was spinning the tires in 4th...running 110 leaded

The first pull should be spot on the following pulls will be effected by heat soak.

No it was a complete rebuild. I believe the pistons and sleeves were updated and the rods/cams were in good condition.

Mike, Im mostly interested in how the exhaust manifolds and the turbos differ from the stock pieces. There are so many stories of what the exact configurations are that its hard to tell what is an original configuration. Do you think that your car is using the "LM" turbos? From the numbers you are running it looks you have an upgraded GTE motor. The intercoolers sure look like it.

That sound at :28-:30 is just amazing. I don't know if it sounds like that because of the microphone, or if that's the actual sound. Just awesome!

It looks like a lot of things were upgraded here, including the two coolers in the rear fenders and the intercoolers. I assume the body work was updated as well.

This car probably has some interesting history.

Street car feels real strong, at a 30psi run we mad 658 at the wheels but for road use were about 550 at 22 psi I believe.

I can't really answer the technical stuff b/c I dont know. I can guess that b/c the car was one of the two factory supported cars it got a few more upgrades than the privately run ones. The titanium connecting rods were a nice touch, those things were light!

All the body work looks like the other LMs, doesn't have the GTE rear hood.
