Yep... found a buyer willing to pay it... simple as that.
People with that sort of money are generally not stupid enough to pay nearly twice the going rate Phil. There must be a story behind it, and I would like to hear it.

Hello Dino Scuderia, yes the green looks original.Somewhere i have the color code...i will search in my file. And also i will post more of my pics soon-please be patient. regards ivo73
there are 19 bulit LM's from the first build in around 1991- 1993. As far as I know, these are the real LM's because some of them actually ran at Le Mans. The GTE's (of which there are 7) are a later bigger engine size 3.6 litre , i think, and built around 1996-1998
here two pics of the 90001 car ! Any ownership history of this car? thanks ivo73 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
here another photo of 90001,now in the IGOL sponsoring livery,a years later. Now i was there only as spectator, not as a mechanic like 1995.. regards ivo73 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Ivo, I believe it is owned by Risi himself and the car is now in the US at FOH. There was an earlier thread about it here on F-Chat as I recall. Sadly, it is no longer in it's race colours. Boring resale Red.
How many GTE are out there ? The one for sale in France has no sequential gb and no carbon brakes which were 2 of the major improvement over the LMs..
There are SEVEN GTE's I believe. There are 2 versions EVO 1 and EVO 2 and the specs vary from car to car it would seem. The GTE's are S/N's: 74045, 82404, 84503, 85015, 88779, 90001 and 94362
According to http://www.qv500.com/ferrarif40p10.php there are only 6.....any idea if they are right/wrong? Also, there seems to be a couple of differences in the S/N's that you posted and theirs.
QV500 isn't accurate in some areas but it's a pretty good summary of the racing F40's. There was one LM that was later converted to full GTE specs (94362) and one that started as a prototype road car, then converted to an LM and then converted to a full Monty EVO 2 GTE (74045). Perhaps QV500 is counting one of those as an LM? The list I am using was published by Michael Sheehan with contributions from Marcel Massini and a dozen other noted experts. So I reckon it's pretty accurate.
Thanks for clearing that up. This list you use, is that in a certain book or magazine? (I am after a comprehensive book with these type of details about Ferrari's)
I have collected everything I have read about Ferraris since the early 80's. In this case it is an article titled "F40's Go Racing" by Michael Sheehan. It may be on his website under articles?
S/N 85015 for sale here in Melbourne Australia. http://www.maranellomotorsport.com.au/displayCar.asp?c=1
